先日、フィリピン人の知人とパブリックマーケットに行きました。その会話で「相場は幾らですか？」「マグロは時価ですか？」などと言う時に、表現に迷いました。早速、「相場」「時価」について調べました。
「相場」とは、市場において取引される価格や交換比率のことです。「時価」とは、市場において取引される市場価格のことです。日本語では、この両者を使い分けますが、英語では同じ表現を使うこともある様です。

■ rise in price – – 相場が上がる、 値上がり、物価騰貴
■ fall in price – – 相場が下がる、値下がり、物価下落
■ the rate of exchange – – 外国為替相場
相場とは、あるものがある特定の時に売られていた価格のことである。
Market price is the price that something could be sold for at a particular time.
相場とは、人々がある特定の時にあるもののために払う意思がある価格のことである。
Market price is the price that people are willing to pay for something at a particular time
今日のドル相場はいくらですか？
How much is the dollar today?
今日の為替相場は１ドル118円です。
The rate of exchange is 118 yen to the dollar today.
天候はサトウキビの相場に影響する。
The weather affects the price of sugarcane.
*「sugarcane」は、「サトウキビ」という意味です。
原油は１バーレル８０ドルの相場です。
Crude oil is quoted 80 dollars a barrel.
*「quote」は、「値段をある額につける、見積もる」という意味です。
■ the current price – – 時価
「時価」とは、市場で提供される商品やサービスの経済価格のことです。
“Jika” is the economic price for which a good or service is offered in the marketplace.
その絵画は時価 300万円です。
The painting is valued at three million yen today.
寿司ネタは時価（市場価格）の影響を強く受ける。
Ingredients for sushi are strongly affected by market prices.
*「ingredient」は、「材料、成分、原料」という意味です。
*「affected」は、「影響を及ぼす」という意味です。
