「震度」は、ある場所での揺れの強さの度合いを表します。「マグニチュード」は、その地震のエネルギーの規模を表します。マグニチュードの小さい地震でも震源地から近い場合には震度は大きくなり、マグニチュードの大きい地震でも震源地から遠い場合に震度は小さくなります。
