「知らない子犬がつきまとった」と言いたかったのですが、「つきまとう」のニュアンスの表現がわかりませんでした。「follow」でのそのニュアンスがあるのかもしれません。早速、「つきまとう」について調べました。
■ follow – – （動詞）ついていく、ついてくる、従う
■ follow around – – 付きまとう、ついて回る
私についてきて。
Follow me.
あなたが私に付きまとう理由を知りたい。
I want to know the reason you follow me around.
私の弟は子犬のように私に付きまとう。
My little brother follows me like a puppy.
彼女がどこへ行っても彼女の子供たちは彼女につきまとっている。
Wherever she goes, her children follows her.
■ tag – – （動詞）付きまとう、くっついて離れない、後にぴったりと付く
■ tag after / tag along – – 付きまとう、付いてまわる、跡をつける、一緒について行く
その可愛く幼い男の子は、母親に付きまとった。
The cute little boy tagged after his mother.
彼は一緒について行っていいかどうか彼女に尋ねた。
He asked her if he could tag along with her.
■ hang – – （動詞）かける、つるす、うろつく、ぶらぶらする、くっついて離れない
■ hang around – – 付きまとう、うろつく
愛犬は四六時中、私に付きまとう。
My pet dog hangs around me all the time.
見知らぬ男が時々、その少女に付きまとっていた。
A strange man was sometimes hanging around the girl.
今回の表現では、「follow around」が、分かりやすく、使いやすい様に思いました。
