■ late – – (形容詞）最近死んだ、故

*「lump in the one’s throat」は、「ぐっと胸につかえるもの」と言う意味です。
■ death – – （具体的には可算名詞）死、死亡

子供たちは亡き母について私に尋ねた。
The children asked me about their dead mother.
私の叔父があなたの亡き夫の古い写真を持っています。

■ deceased – – （形容詞）死去した、故
兄弟たちは亡き父を慕ったと伝えられる。
It is said the brothers longed for their deceased father.
ノアは、亡き母に似ているというイザベルを殊更に慕うようになった。
Noah especially adored Isabella, because she was the very image of his deceased mother.
*「adored」は「敬慕する。あこがれる。熱愛する。」の意味の「adore」の過去形です。
■ lost – – （形容詞）死んだ、亡くなった
ライアンは、亡き友を思い悲しんだ。
Ryan’s heart bled for his lost friend.
*「bled」は「（心が）ひどく痛む」と言う意味の「bleed」の過去形です。
