新聞などで「民度が低い」という様な表現を時々目にします。「民度」を英語で表現するとどうなるのでしょうか？早速、「民度」について調べました。
「民度」とは、国民・住民・特定地域住民の「生活水準」「知的水準」「教育水準」「文化水準」「行動様式」などのレベルや成熟度を意味します。「モラル」とは少々意味が異なります。

「民度」を表す英語表現としては「the standard of living」が使われることが多いようですが、「民度が低い」と「生活水準が低い」とは、少しニュアンスが異なる気がします。「モラル」「マナー」「節操」なども絡んだ意味ではと思います。
「民度」を他の日本語に置き換えて、自分の一番近いニュアンスの英語表現にすることが良いのではないでしょうか。
