「ゆとり」「余裕」って英語で言うと？part1の続きです。
■ room – – （名詞）余裕、余地、場所、あき、スペース
心に余裕がある。
I have a room in my mind.
私の心に余裕がないだけです。
It is just that there is no room in my heart.
このバンの後部座席には ６人が座るだけのゆとりがある。
There’s room for six on the rear seat of the van.
新しい部下を迎えるために、心のゆとりを持ちなさい。
Have some room in your heart to welcome new subordinates.
アン王女は心の余裕のない様子だったという。
It is said that princess Ann had no room in her heart.
今私は仕事で忙しすぎて、新しい事業を起こすゆとりはない。
I’m too busy with my job and don’t have room in my life to start a new enterprise.
「ゆとり」「余裕」に関する表現はたくさんありますが、今回の２つの表現「can afford / cannot afford」と「room / no room」を覚えましたので、今後使っていきたいと思います。
