「彼の交通事故は示談になった」と言いたかったのですが、「示談」の表現がわかりませんでした。早速、「示談（にする）」について調べました。

■ settlement negotiation – – 示談交渉
私は示談で済ませることができる。

その女性裁判官は双方に対して和解を勧告した。
The woman judge advised both sides to compromise.
英語では混同されている「示談」と「和解」の相違についても簡単に調べました。
「示談」とは、当事者がお互いに譲歩することで、裁判所の関与なしに争いを止める取り決めを言います。
「和解」とは、裁判所内の和解と裁判所外の和解があり、お互いが納得する条件で争いを止める契約です。裁判所内での和解は法的な効力があります。
