■ connection – – [通例複数形] コネ、縁故、有力な知人
彼女は有力なコネを持っている。
She has powerful connections.
彼は政治家と良いコネがある。
He has good connections with the politicians.

私の友人は、政府高官にコネがある。
My friend has connections in the highest officials of government.

■ pull – – （名詞）引き、利点、特別な影響力
■ pull strings – – コネを利用する、裏で操る、人の力を利用して目的を達成する
*「string」は、「糸、ひも」という意味です。
私はその仕事を得るために少々コネを利用する。
I will pull a few strings to get the job.
今の職を得るのに、彼女の義父がコネを少し利用した。
In getting her present job, Her father-in-law pulled a few strings.
