「妨害」「妨害する」って英語で言うと？Part1に続きます。今回は動詞編です。
■ disturb – – （他動詞）妨害する、乱す、妨げる（自動詞）じゃまする
騒音が私の安眠を妨害した。
The noise disturbed my sweet sleep.
彼女の睡眠の邪魔をするな。
Don’t disturb her while she is sleeping.
彼は父の邪魔をしないように静かにしている。
He keeps quiet so that he won’t disturb his father.
■ obstruct – – （他動詞）ふさぐ、遮断する、（進行や行為を）妨害する（自動詞）妨害をする
傍聴人の一人が大声を上げて議事進行を妨害した。
One of the audiences cried out to obstruct the proceedings.
彼らの行為は、私たちの営業を妨害している。
Their behavior is obstructing our business.
河は軍隊の進行を妨害した。
Rivers obstructed the progress of the army.
■ interfere – – （自動詞）妨げる、じゃまをする、干渉する
その道路工事は、私の営業を妨害するだろう。
The road construction will interfere with my business.
他人の楽しみを妨害してはいけない。
Don’t interfere with other people’s pleasures.
試験は教育の本当の意味を妨げる。
Examinations interfere with the real meaning of education.
■ interrupt – – （他動詞）さえぎる、中断する（自動詞）阻止する、中断する
お話中失礼します。
I’m sorry to interrupt you.
視界をさえぎる物は何もなかった。
There was nothing to interrupt the view.
生徒たちは授業を妨害した。
The students interrupted the lecture.
「disturb」「disturbance」は、平和、平穏などを妨げる騒ぎ、騒動というニュアンスが強い様です。
「obstruct」「obstruction」は、腸閉塞、食道の詰まりなど体内の障害物、スポーツなどで反則的な邪魔をするなど、スムーズな流れを妨げるというニュアンスが強い様です。
「interfere」「interference」は、光波・音波・電波などが干渉しているイメージが多く、干渉して邪魔をするニュアンスが強い様です。
「interrupt」 「interruption」は、仕事、電話、通行など、取り掛かっている何かを中断させるというニュアンスが強い様です。.
