「赤字」「黒字」の表現にはいろいろあります。時々、合っているのかわからなくなる時があります。早速、調べて整理することにしました。
■ red – – （名詞）赤字
■ in the red – – 赤字で、赤字経営で
■ black – – （名詞）黒字
■ in the black – – 黒字で、黒字経営で
うちの家計は毎月赤字です。
Our family finances are in the red every month.
あのイタリアンレストランは赤字である。
That Italian restaurant is in the red.
当社は今月は黒字である。
Our company is in the black this month.
会社の利益が黒字になった。
Our company’s profit has become in the black.
■ deficit – – （名詞）赤字、不足

その支店は赤字である。
The branch is in deficit.
先月は５００万円の赤字である。
Last month has a deficit of five million yen.
累積赤字は３百万ドルに達している。
The cumulative deficit has reached 3 million dollars.
*「cumulative」は「累積する、累加する」という意味です。
今月は３万円の黒字です。
This month has thirty thousand yen surplus.
我が社の貿易黒字は２０億ペソに達した。
Our company’s trade surplus reached 2 billion pesos.
上記以外にも「positive」「negative」「loss」「gain」などを使った表現もありますが、とりあえず今回の表現は使いこなせるようにしたいと思います。
