「ヘッドライトがまぶしい」って言いたかったのですが、言えませんでした。「まぶしい」の表現について早速調べました。
■ bright – – （形容詞）明るい、輝く
明かりがまぶし過ぎる。
The light is too bright.
太陽がまぶしい。
The sun is bright.
新しいモニターはまぶし過ぎる。
The new monitor is too bright.
■ dazzling – – （形容詞）目もくらむばかりの、まぶしい
日差しがまぶしい。
The sunshine is dazzling.
彼女はまばゆいばかりの美人だ
She’s a dazzling beauty.
■ dazzle – – （他動詞）目をくらます、まぶしくする
太陽がまぶしい。
My eyes are dazzled by the sun.
その車のヘッドライトに私たちの目がくらんだ。
Our eyes were dazzled by the car’s headlights.
私は前から来る車のヘッドライトで目がくらんだ。
I was dazzled by the headlights of an approaching car.
■ glaring – – （形容詞）ぎらぎら輝く、まばゆい
日差しがまぶしい。
The sun’s rays are glaring.
ヘッドライトがまぶしくて一瞬目がくらんだ。
The glaring headlights dazzled us for a moment.
■ blinding – – （形容詞）目をくらます
それはまぶしい懐中電灯だ。
It’s the blinding flashlight.
まぶしい日差しに誘われて人々が外出した。
The blinding sunshine tempted people out.
少女はまぶしい日差しを浴びて仰向けに寝ていた。
The girl on her back, basking in the blinding sunshine.
それぞれの相違点について調べましたが、正直良くわかりませんでした。
個人的には、「too bright」が使い易い様に感じました。
「The sun is too bright.」「The headlights are too bright.」などは、言い易いですね。
